Curriculum

Newmarket and District Christian Academy uses the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum expectations as a guideline.  All curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective.

Arrowsmith

A limited number of student spaces are alotted to students enrolled in our Arrowsmith program.  The Arrowsmith Program is founded on neuroscience research and 30 years of experience demonstrating that it is possible for students to strengthen the weak cognitive capacities underlying their learning dysfunctions through a program of specific cognitive exercises.

The Arrowsmith Program identifies, intervenes and strengthens the weak cognitive capacities that affect learning.  Students are able to capitalize on their increased learning capacities and after a three or four year program can function without special education assistance or program accommodations. The Arrowsmith Program is suitable for students with mild to severe learning problems.

Bible Curriculum and Spiritual Life

Bible is taught as an additional subject in all grades. We use a variety of curriculum materials including, Positive Action for Christ . Weekly scripture memory is a component of the Bible class.

Instrumental Music

All students in Gr. 5-8 receive instruction in brass or woodwind instruments. Students may purchase or rent instruments. Grade 4 students learn to play the recorder.
